Can i replace eletric stove for gas if propane is used?
You can replace the electric stove for a propane one. First off, you will need to purchase a gas stove. If you replace this yourself remember that with gas stoves they will have what is called an orfus for the gas to go through. Most new stoves are set for natural gas and not propane. You will need to make sure you get the propane orfus with the stove. It will most likely come with the stove. You will need to connect to a gas line somewhere and run the new line to your new gas stove. Usually this line is copper. You might want to check with your insurance company you have your home insured with to make sure they will insure your home if you use a copper line. Some insurance companies require you to run a steel pipe to the stove area and then use the flex line from the steel line to your stove which will be about four feet or so. If your home is all electric you will have to get a propane tank set in order to have propane to your stove. Here again, if you are within a city limit you would need to check with the city to make sure you can have a propane tank set on your property. Propane tanks have to be a certain distance from things like homes. Some cities do not allow propane tanks inside the city limits. If cost is a concern, you would probably be money ahead to stick with the electric stove. By the time you purchase the items to convert to propane it will take a long time to make up the difference in cost to make the change. Gas can and does leak sometimes and can be very dangerous and cause explosions unlike electric.
